Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development
Various anthropogenic activities are energy demanding. With the primary source being the fossil fuel, these activities have invariably led to the incessant pollution of the environment. A universal switch to the use of Renewable energy such as wind, water, solar and biofuels forms the core of sustainable development. This course will focus on the utilisation of renewable energy sources and the necessary techniques that are required for efficient energy use as well as low carbon technologies.
Students are expected to understand the fundamentals of sustainable development with focus on sustainable cities and clean energy.
Students should be able to characterise power sources by carbon dioxide emissions.
Students should be able to analyse and discuss the impacts of fossil fuel utilisation while enumerating the comparative social, environmental and economic benefits of renewable energy sources.
Students are expected to understand the requirements of low-carbon power energy sources.
Students are expected to understand and be able to discuss the basics of power generation and energy management.
A digital certificate of accomplishment endorsed by the instructors, and the institute will be awarded to students after completion of course. Students must attain an average score of 70% or more in exercises and examination. Any student that achieves over 90% will be awarded their certificate of accomplishment with distinction.
